Quartets with a cimbalom and a tárogató: Kálmán Balogh and Koszika, József Terék and friends
World-Wide
World-Wide
The World-Wide series associated with the name of cimbalom player Kálmán Balogh, and held annually since 2013, puts the cimbalom and tárogató centre stage as the programmes present the two instruments to the audience in a different light each year. The ten-year-old initiative of the tárogató artist József Terék, the Tárogató Hungaricum Concert, features a rich programme that provides ample evidence that the virtuoso instrument can confidently claim its place in most musical styles. Kálmán Balogh, who is constantly reinventing himself, will first perform with violinist-singer Krisztina ‘Koszika’ Koszorús as a duo, before they are joined by their permanent accompanying artists to form a quartet. One of the great talents of the up-and-coming generation, Koszika is able to straddle styles, making this one of the most exciting crossover productions of the year. Prior to the concert, the stars of the evening will talk about their instruments, which are unique to Hungary, as part of a panel discussion.
